Designs for the Narrabeen Education Campus project have been released after community engagements with stakeholders and site investigations. The project includes a $20-million upgrade of two Northern Beaches school communities, Narrabeen Sports High School and Narrabeen North Public School.

The Narrabeen Education Campus is part of NSW’s billions of investment into school infrastructure in the next four years, where 160 new or upgraded schools will be delivered to the community.

Upgrades to Narrabeen Sports High School (NSHS) on 10 Namona St include improvements in the learning spaces, including classrooms for specialist supports classes for science, performing arts, food and textile and metal learning. The gym and multipurpose hall will also be refurbishment with new amenities.

Established as a girls’ high school in 1959, NSHS was merged with Narrabeen High School in the ’70s and was turned into NSW’s first specialist sports high school in 2000, averaging more than 850 students a year.

The design for 80-year-old Narrabeen North Public School on 6 Namona St, on the other hand, includes upgraded flexible learning spaces that will also support specialist support classes. The library and administration hub will also be improved whilst a new multipurpose hall for sports and performance will be built.

Following the release of these designs, School Infrastructure NSW will be lodging the development application with the Northern Beaches Council. The design and construction contract to appoint the builder will follow.

Funding for the Narrabeen Education Campus has been secured in 2021.

“I’m delighted construction funding has been secured for this major education project. This is a key milestone which enables the Narrabeen Education Precinct vision to come to life,” then Member for Pittwater Rob Stokes said.

“The Precinct will be an incredible education asset in our community – directly benefiting students and catering for the future needs of local young families.”
