Surfing icon and two-time world champion Tom Carroll is recovering at home after a frightening wipeout at his local break in North Narrabeen.

The incident occurred when Carroll, a seasoned veteran of the waves since his youth, was surfing a small day at the iconic beach.
While paddling for a wave, Carroll experienced a sudden loss of consciousness, resulting in a headfirst collision with his surfboard. He sustained a laceration to his forehead and experienced temporary numbness down his right side. Lifeguards swiftly responded to the incident, immediately assisting and transporting him to the hospital.

Carroll, reflecting on the incident, suspects that sunscreen residue on his hands may have contributed to the mishap, although his memory of the event remains hazy. He expressed profound gratitude for the prompt actions of the lifeguards and medical professionals who aided in his recovery.
Despite the scare, Carroll, renowned for his resilience and passion for the sport, is expected to recover and return to the waves fully.
This incident reminds us of the inherent risks of surfing, even for the most experienced wave riders.
