North Narrabeen will host the Surfboard Empire North Narrabeen Pro Junior presented by Florence alongside the Surfboard Empire NN Ripper presented by Veia, bringing leading junior surfers back to a long-established competitive surf location.
Two Events, One Competitive Pathway
From April 22 to April 26, 2026, North Narrabeen will stage both a World Surf League Pro Junior event and a Surfing Australia Junior Series 10,000 competition. The Pro Junior is open to surfers aged 20 and under, while the NN Ripper includes Under 18 and Under 16 divisions.
Holding both events within the same window brings multiple stages of junior competition together, linking national-level contests with international ranking opportunities. The Pro Junior forms part of the 2026 season and contributes to qualification pathways towards the World Junior Championships.
A Proven Ground Reopens At North Narrabeen
North Narrabeen has maintained a long-standing role in Australian surfing, hosting junior competitions that have contributed to the development of internationally recognised surfers. Earlier Pro Junior events and its history as a former world junior championship venue underline its position within the sport.
Over time, the location has been associated with athletes who progressed to elite competition, reinforcing its place as a recognised testing ground for emerging talent.

Ranking Points And Qualification Opportunities
The Pro Junior event offers ranking points that influence standings within the World Surf League junior system. Top-performing surfers from each region progress toward a global field, with further opportunities linked to advancement pathways beyond the junior level.
The NN Ripper operates as a 10,000-point rated event within the Surfing Australia Junior Series, bringing together competitors from across the country in structured age divisions.
Competition Format And Entry Structure
The junior series event will run with timed heats and a straight knockout format, with progression determined by wave scores across each round. Entry requirements include eligibility based on age divisions and national seeding systems.
The Pro Junior follows a structured format for male and female divisions, with participation requiring active membership and compliance with competition entry conditions.

Community And Industry Support
Delivery of the events is supported by surf industry partners and organisations connected to the Northern Beaches surf community. The return of both competitions reflects continued activity around junior surfing at North Narrabeen.
The location continues to host events that allow both new and returning competitors to measure their performance within a recognised competitive environment.
