North Narrabeen, one of Sydney’s most popular surf breaks, is set to host some of the world’s best surfers as they suit up to compete in the highly anticipated World Surf League 2024 Challenger Series.
Scheduled from 9 to 16 May 2024, this year’s competition promises to be a thrilling spectacle, with surfers from across the globe vying for a chance to qualify for the prestigious Championship Tour in 2025.
The Challenger Series encompasses a global journey, with stops in Australia, South Africa, the United States, Portugal, and Brazil from May to October 2024. The 2024 Challenger Series Schedule:
1. Australia’s Surfing Showdown:
- Snapper Rocks, Gold Coast (Queensland, Australia)
- Dates: April 27 – May 4, 2024
The Challenger Series commences in Australia with a high-stakes event at Snapper Rocks on the Gold Coast, following CT Stop No. 5. Surfers will showcase their skills, striving to secure their positions on the prestigious Championship Tour in the coming year.
2. North Narrabeen: Sydney’s Surfing Gem:
- North Narrabeen, Sydney (New South Wales, Australia)
- Dates: May 9 – 16, 2024
North Narrabeen, often celebrated as one of Sydney’s premier surf breaks, takes center stage in the Challenger Series. Surfers from around the world will converge here, seeking to dominate the waves and earn coveted spots on the Championship Tour.
3. Ballito: South African Challenge:
- Ballito (KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa)
- Dates: July 1 – 8, 2024
After the Australian leg, the Challenger Series crosses continents, with the next stop being Ballito, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The picturesque South African coastline will witness fierce competition as surfers battle for supremacy.
4. Huntington Beach: California Dreaming:
- Huntington Beach (California, USA)
- Dates: August 3 – 11, 2024
In early August, the action shifts to Huntington Beach, California, where surfers will ride the California waves and strive for excellence in the world of professional surfing.
5. Ericeira: European Challenge:
- Ericeira (Portugal)
- Dates: September 29 – October 6, 2024
Ericeira, Portugal, plays host to the penultimate stop of the Challenger Series. Surrounded by the beauty of the Portuguese coast, surfers will vie for their spot on the Championship Tour.
6. Saquarema: Grand Finale in Brazil:
